Built in the 1950s at the Asiago Astrophysical Observatory Workshop, the intensitometer is an instrument designed to trace intensity profiles of photographic spectra. The plate containing the spectrum was projected and scrolled along the wavelength direction, allowing analysis of its details.
By comparing the results with the characteristic curve of the plate, obtained through spectrosensitometry, the instrument recorded the intensity trace of the examined spectrum on a paper roll. A necessary device for quantitative analysis of spectra and astrophysics of the period.
