The Asiago Astrophysical Observatory houses an extraordinary historical heritage, the result of activities begun in 1942. Data, publications, and materials produced over the decades are now preserved thanks to the collaboration between the Museum, the Department of Physics and Astronomy and the Astronomical Observatory of Padua (OAPd/INAF).
Historical funds include:
- Photographic archive, over 78,000 plates obtained until 1997, stored in controlled climatic conditions, including images produced by the Schmidt and Copernicus telescopes (OAPd/INAF).
- Technical drawings archive, more than 350 graphic tables divided by type.
- Historical archive, documents from 1929 to 1950, with 2,535 pages on 1,192 documents.
- Technical archive of instruments, more than 1000 documents for a total of 18,152 pages.
- Museum deposit, over 200 historical instruments not exhibited.
The Museum is dedicated to the conservation, restoration, and digitization of these materials, to make them accessible to scholars and enhance astronomical knowledge.
